A City of Contrasts
Mumbai is India’s financial powerhouse — home to glittering skyscrapers, global corporations, and immense wealth. Yet, just beyond these towers live millions who struggle daily for survival.
Over 9 to 12 million Mumbaikars live in slums, where families crowd into one-room homes without proper sanitation, clean water, or healthcare. Despite contributing immensely to the city’s economy as labourers, vendors, and service workers, they remain trapped in cycles of poverty and ill-health.
The Economic Divide
The top 10% of Mumbai’s residents control over half of its income, while the bottom 50% survive on less than ₹20,000 per month.
This growing inequality means that the poor often cannot afford basic healthcare, quality education, or skill training — essentials for a dignified life. For many, even a single illness can push an entire family into debt.
The Healthcare Crisis
Government hospitals are overwhelmed — with only 15,300 public beds serving over 21 million people. Patients wait for days, sometimes weeks, for basic care.
Private hospitals, though better equipped, remain beyond the reach of the poor, with high treatment costs and limited access to government schemes.
For slum dwellers, migrants, and daily wage earners, the struggle to access timely and affordable healthcare is constant — and often life-threatening. This service gap creates despair, confusion, and fatal delays in treatment.
Our Mission: Bridging Gaps, Restoring Hope
Ni-Swarth Sewa Charitable Trust steps in where systems fail. We act as guides, helpers, and healers — ensuring that no life is lost or left untreated due to poverty or ignorance.
Blood Donation Drives
We organize blood donation camps and connect voluntary donors with patients in emergencies — ensuring timely access to blood for those in need.
Affordable Healthcare
Through our polyclinics and homeopathy centres, we provide affordable consultations, diagnostics, and treatments.
We also provide medical equipment — such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, and oxygen concentrators — to the underprivileged, ensuring comfort and dignity during recovery.
Rahat Counselling Centre
Empowering Minds, Inspiring Souls
We recognise that mental well-being is as crucial as physical health. Our counselling services aim to prevent and alleviate human suffering through compassion and guidance.
Our Counselling Includes:
● Personal & Relationship Counselling
● Parent-Child & Adolescent Counselling
● Anxiety, Depression & Stress Management
● Anger Control & Work-Life Balance Sessions
● Awareness Workshops for Schools and Youth
Awareness Campaigns
We conduct awareness programs on drug abuse, mental health, and youth issues, empowering communities with knowledge and preventive care.
Skill Development Initiatives
Poverty is not just a lack of money — it’s a lack of opportunity.
Through our Community Welfare Centres, we empower youth and women with employable skills in:
● Computer Operations & DTP
● Tailoring & Embroidery
● Beautician & Salon Training
These skills open doors to self-reliance and dignity, reducing dependence on low-wage informal work.
The Impact: Building a Healthier, Empowered Mumbai
Our initiatives address Mumbai’s most urgent human needs — healthcare, mental wellness, and livelihood.
We exist because millions of Mumbaikars are caught between the promise of prosperity and the reality of deprivation.
By offering affordable medical care, counselling, and skill training, NSCT bridges the demand–supply gap in essential services — helping individuals reclaim health, confidence, and hope.
